Goodwin has strengthened its recently opened Brussels office, hiring an antitrust and competition partner as the firm continues to expand its European competition team. Athena Kontosakou told Law360 that the opportunity to contribute to building the Brussels office, which opened in January, was one she could not pass up. "I was offered the chance to be a founding member of the new Brussels office, an opportunity which doesn't come around often," Kontosakou said on May 6. "It's a great firm, and the ability to shape a new office, build a team and cultivate its culture is an exciting journey." Kontosakou, who joined the firm on April 28, will work with Stephen Mavroghenis, who leads Goodwin's Brussels office, to grow its antitrust and competition presence in Europe as an extension of its services in the U.S. and U.K. She added that the antitrust team is already expanding, with two associates in place and plans to bring in additional talent in the coming months.
